My parents owned and ran many fish and chip shops during their working lives. I spent nearly every Saturday, working in the chip shop as a teenager to earn some money. This is selection of images of those chippys.
The chippy (Long since gone) on the Greave Estate, close to the Rochdale AFC ground. The position was where the grey roller shutter can be seen.

This drawing of my parents chip shop, was drawn by a hungry artist in the 1980's who sketched it outside, then came into the shop to sell it in exchange for the price of a meal!

In the rear kitchen again with my Auntie Medina (Dark hair) and a member of staff. Notice the fetching pink uniforms and the old landline phone. (Luckily I had to wear a white lab style coat).

When my parents decided to retire, this is the chap (I don't know his name) who bought the chippy and took it over. Note the bain marie behind the new owner, that used to keep the northern style mushy peas and gravy warm thought service.

A local Pakistani taxi photo bombing this picture. Nearly all taxi's in Rochdale in the 1980's were run by Pakistani familes. The main one we used was called 'Tiger' taxis, and each car had tiger skin seat covers!
